Work orders and quality
How the camp's work gets done. Standing orders, work points, batches, the quality roll from Crude to Masterwork, drills and the infirmary.
Standing orders
Every exile at camp holds a standing order, and it repeats each week until it is changed. The squad that was in the field skips that week's work.
| Order | What the exile does |
|---|---|
| Idle | Rest. |
| Gather | Bring in a resource the region can give. |
| Craft | Make batches of a recipe. |
| Build | Put work into a facility. |
| Drill | Drill another exile in primitive weapons. |
| Tend | Staff the infirmary. |
| Study | Work on a research project at the study hut. |
| Forge | Work the crown forge's job. |
| Fortify | Build a defence at the home camp or an outpost. |
| Teach | Teach at the training yard. |
| Train | Learn at the training yard. |
Work points
An exile puts in 1 work point a week plus their level in the order's skill. A recipe's batch costs its work, and an exile makes at most 3 batches a week. A facility or a study takes as many weeks of work as it needs, and several exiles can work on the same one. An exile needs at least the recipe's minimum skill to take it on at all.
Quality
Every batch rolls for quality: percentile dice plus 10 for each level the worker has above the recipe's minimum.
| Quality | When | Step | Extra |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crude | the roll comes to 15 or less | -1 | - |
| Standard | anything between | 0 | - |
| Fine | the roll comes to 86 or more | +1 | - |
| Masterwork | 120 or more, and only a worker at skill 5 | +2 | +5 Aim on weapons |
What a quality step changes depends on the item: the size of a heal or a tonic, the number of uses, or a weapon's damage. Each item's line is on items.
Drills
An exile with Combat Arts 4 or better can drill another, who gains 1 primitive Aim a week, to at most 5.
Tending
An exile with Medicine 1 or better can tend the infirmary, which heals the wounded faster. See downed and bleeding out.
Auto-assign
The workshop can assign orders itself. It builds the main facilities in a sensible order and keeps a working stock of the things the squad uses most.
